Watch around Water

The Y follows the Watch Around Water guidelines.

Children under 5 must be accompanied in the water and remain within arms reach.

Children under 10 must be accompanied and constantly supervised by an adult.

Supervision for parents / caregivers while supervising children as per the Guidelines For Safe Pool operations (GSPO) are as follows:

Children under 5

1 adult to 2 children. Includes babies in prams
All children 0-4 years must be accompanied in the water at all times by a parent / caregiver

Children under 10

1 adult to 4 children
All children 5-9 years must be actively supervised at all times by a parent / caregiver

Mixed group

1 adult to 1 child aged 0-4 and 3 children aged 5-9
